What is a Habitat ReStore?

Habitat for Humanity Re-Store is a non-profit retail outlet specializing in the resale of quality new and previously owned building materials, home furnishings and appliances at 50 to 75% off retail prices.

Our Goals are to:

  • Generate cash flow to support Habitat’s home building program in Kern County.
  • Keep useable materials out of local area landfills
  • Provide the community with a source of low cost building materials
  • Provide an opportunity to volunteer at the Habitat Re-Store

Here's how it works:

Habitat for Humanity accepts donations of new and used building materials such as cabinets, lighting and plumbing fixtures, doors, lumber, flooring, and windows. Some materials will be used to build Habitat houses. The rest will be sold to the public at 50-75% off the retail price. There are over 500 Habitat Re-Stores in the U.S and Canada.

The Habitat ReStore:

  • Makes home improvements more affordable.
  • Helps Habitat build more homes.
  • Prevents usable building materials from going to a landfill.

How you can help:

The Habitat Re-Store is an ambitious project, and we need the help of a lot of people in many different ways to make it successful. You can help by volunteering, donating good used building materials, or simply by shopping at the Habitat Re-Store.

Note: All donations to the Habitat Re-Store are tax deductible.

Donations always wanted

Donations of new and slightly used items are always needed and all are tax-deductible. A tax receipt is given to the donor at the time of the donation and the donor decides the value. Donations can be brought to the store during business hours.

Volunteers Wanted

The Re-Store operates with the help of volunteers. We need help assisting customers, stocking, cleaning, organizing, pricing merchandise, doing pick-ups, and much more. If you are interested in volunteering at the Re-Store, we will work around your schedule – work as much or as little as you can. For info on volunteering click here.
